if you have attempted to email me since february 14th at 11:30pm(ish), i have yet to read it. i've been locked out of gmail.
not only did i have to spend valentine's day alone, karma managed to kick me in the nuts some more by locking me out of gmail when i was in the middle of working.
i decided to work on some freelance work, and was reviewing some emails from a client. i turned to write something down on paper, and gmail automatically refreshed itself and logged me out. no biggie, i thought, i'll just log back in.
i attempt to log in and i get a message saying that my username and password do not match. i try again with no luck. looking for a "forgotten password" link, i find none, but rather get redirected to the help area for gmail.
i go through the troubleshooting (trying the secure url, clearing cookies and cache, etc) with no luck. finally i get to a form to email support.
i fill out the form with the necessary information (browser, operating system, extensions installed, etc.). i even include in the note extra information on what happened. the next morning i get an email at work (which i provided to gmail support), asking me to answer some questions. those questions happened to be the same damn ones i filled out on the support form.
i've yet to receive an answer from that reply.
all the gmail responses after trying to recover my password state that instructions were sent to the secondary email address i used when i signed up... that was over 3 years ago. i no longer have that email address, because i switched it over to gmail! now what???
gmail then tells me i have to wait 5 days to try again and then i can reset the password. but that's only if there's been 5 days of inactivity on the account. who knows if someone is in there doing who knows what?
so in the meantime, i am out of email contact. i now hate the fact that so much of my life is tied into google. my appointments (google calendar), email (google mail), electronic bill reminders (google mail), website stats (google analytics), blog reader (google reader), etc.
now what?
