google updates erie satellite images

i went to google maps the other day to lookup some directions within erie and ended up clicking on the satellite view.  erie's images were lacking, and you got something like this:

Google Map of Erie - Old version

the image is pretty crappy and blurry, but it's now been updated to this:

Google Map of Erie - New version

so not only are the images clearer, you can also zoom in just as far as you can in larger cities.  here are some examples:

Google Map of Erie's Bicentennial Tower
Bicentennial Tower, Dobbin's Landing

Google Map of Erie's Millcreek Mall
Millcreek Mall, Erie, Pennsylvania

Google Map of Erie's International Airport - Tom Ridge Field
Erie International Airport - Tom Ridge Field

of course, these images are from a few years ago (my company's new building was only half done at the time, thus making it sometime around early 2005), but it's still a huge improvement from seeing this:

Nice catch. I've always been irritated with Google Maps because of this. 11/16/2007 4:55 PM | richardz

Only in Erie could we have a mall shaped like a gun AND a monument/tower thing shaped like a penis.

I really am proud to be from Erie! At least it has character! 11/20/2007 12:07 AM | Erica
